Wade Schaming,
Easy Feelings

September 10 – October 10
Equity Gallery | 245 Broome St., New York, NY 10002

In Easy Feelings, his first solo exhibition at Equity Gallery, Wade Schaming presents a new body of geometric colorfield paintings that transform personal histories of instability, accumulation and loss into systems of repetition and order.

Built outward from central forms through rhythmic mark-making and repeated graphic motifs, the works find structure in uncertainty, extending Schaming’s longstanding engagement with memory, impermanence and the emotional lives of everyday objects.

SYNESTHESIA

Synesthesia brings together three artists, Yena Seo-Yeon Park, Will Maddoxx and Julie Schenkelberg, who utilize the canvas and gallery environment as sites of phenomenological inquiry. Park’s atmospheric canvases juxtapose blurred silhouettes with dense, impasto marks, while Maddoxx uses compositional cropping and painterly erasures to explore identity and self-image in a hyper-mediated landscape. Schenkelberg extends these tensions into the gallery space and out into the courtyard, constructing monumental assemblages from domestic remnants and post-industrial debris. Together, the works explore the friction between isolation and accumulation, stasis and collapse, translating raw materiality and fragmented visual data into affectively charged environments.
