  • We are here for artists, collectors, educators, and art lovers of all types. Our goal is to create community, support and provide opportunities for artists, while providing fun and educational events for art enthusiasts, with a special focus on underrepresented groups.

  • No. We understand that artists want to show their work, and we provide opportunities for artists to apply for and propose exhibitions. But NYAE is more than the operator of Equity Gallery. We are here to build community, advance artistic excellence and provide opportunities for patronage. Upcoming Events

  • NY Artists Equity welcomes new artists establishing their practice, emerging, and established artists.

    For artists at all levels:

    • The opportunity to be involved with the arts community, including opportunities to give back

    • Career development support in the form of workshops and portfolio reviews

    For artists with at newly established art practice (Cobalt Members & up):

    • Opportunities to apply for large group exhibits in Equity Gallery, such as our annual members invitational

    For emerging artists with a well-established art practice, who have a strong project or small collection of work (Rose members & up):

    • Opportunities to propose and apply for small group exhibits in Equity Gallery and small project exhibits in our Project Space

    For more established artists, who have a strong body of work that can support a gallery-sized solo show (Emerald Members):

    • Opportunities to propose/apply for solo exhibits in Equity

    • Ivory Membership - for student artists. Provides networking opportunities and career development support, with the goal of helping the artist develop a solid professional practice. Open to all applicants.

    • Cobalt Membership - for artists with an established practice. In addition to career development support and access to our community of artists, this membership provides opportunities to propose onlie exhibitions and participate in group exhibitions at Equity Gallery and in the community. Open to all applicants.

    • Rose Membership - for established artists seeking greater opportunities and community involvement. Provides more personalized career development support, opportunities to apply to group and small individual exhibitions and to propose group exhibitions in Equity Gallery and other community spaces. Application required.

    • Emerald Membership - for members at the Rose level seeking greater exposure and curatorial involvement. Members may propose group and solo shows.

    • Lifetime Membership - for members at the Rose level looking for a good deal with additional perks. Additionally includes free submissions to opportunities and open calls for life.

  • Equity Gallery is NY Artists Equity’s public-facing exhibition space on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Equity Gallery does not serve exclusively as a place for our members to show work; it is a community hub where we exhibit the work of emerging and underrepresented artists of merit, including the work of our own members.
