Wade Schaming
Easy Feelings

September 10 – October 10, 2026

In Easy Feelings, his first solo exhibition at Equity Gallery, Wade Schaming presented a new body of geometric colorfield paintings that transformed personal histories of instability, accumulation and loss into systems of repetition and order. Built outward from central forms through rhythmic mark-making and repeated graphic motifs, often derived from custom stamps, the paintings emphasized the tactile qualities of unprimed surfaces while establishing a sense of spatial balance and structure. The works extended Schaming’s longstanding engagement with assemblage, personal archiving, memory, impermanence and the emotional lives of everyday objects. The exhibition was co-curated by Christopher Stout and Joey Vadapalas.

Synesthesia

September 10 – October 10, 2026

Synesthesia brought together work by Yena Seo-Yeon Park, Will Maddoxx, and Julie Schenkelberg in an exhibition co-curated by Christopher Stout and Joey Vadapalas. Operating at the intersection of gestural abstraction and monumental assemblage, the artists used the canvas and gallery floor as sites of phenomenological inquiry, exploring tensions between isolation and accumulation, stasis and collapse. Across painting and site-specific installation, their works brought the intimacy of mark-making into dialogue with the physical presence of accumulated materials. These concerns extended from the painted surface into the surrounding architecture, connecting the individual works through an exploration of materiality, perception and structural precarity.

Echoes of Place

July 16 – August 7, 2026

NYAE offers an exhibition featuring the works of artist members Carol Fabricatore, Susan Greenstein, and Janet Pedersen, who interpret the natural and built environment through a blend of direct observation and studio exploration. Whether depicting picturesque getaways, gritty highway overpasses, or scenes from one's own backyard, the collected works belie a heartfelt novel experience—as if what is being depicted has never been experienced before—by the artist or anyone else for that matter. Working variously on location, from memory, or somewhere between the two, these artists return to the studio not to document place, but to reimagine it through observation, abstraction, and spontaneous mark-making.

Nose to Tail

June 11 – July 11

Curated by Patricia Fabricant and Jeanne Heifetz, “Nose to Tail” celebrates the generative possibilities of the decision to let nothing in the studio go to waste. The artists in the show repurpose studio materials that serve a practical function, or the outtakes and offcuts from other works, finding sustenance in happy accidents that become artworks in their own right.

Participating Artists: Damien Berdichevsky, Patricia Fabricant, Joan Grubin, William Holton, James Lecce, Jessica Nissen, Jason Rohlf, Gabrielle Shelton, Oriane Stender, Audrey Stone, Shira Toren
