In Liminal Rift, Jane Sangerman presents mixed media works built around a shared compositional structure in which each piece is split evenly into two vertically hinged fields. The upper half tends toward the metaphysical, a numinous inward-looking space, while the lower half turns to the immediacy of the artist’s physical world. The crumbling, industrial yet rapidly developing Brooklyn landscape she inhabits informs the color, surfaces, and visual language of the work. Precise forms drawn with tape, intuitive spray-paint passages, and, more recently, collaged digital prints are layered together, often over archival pigment prints.
